It does not feel like stepping into a museum, but rather a home – Carl Nielsen’s home that is, with furniture you can sit on and the smell of tobacco and rosin for the violin strings.

Carl Nielsen’s childhood in central Funen was characterized by the folk music that thrived here. He was six years old when he first put his violin to his chin, and he composed his first polka by nine. In the museum’s exhibitions, you can learn much more about his childhood, family, and life in these parts – and his music, of course!
